"WRAPPING UP WARM"

WELL ONCE MORE I WAKE TO THE FREEZING COLD AND THE SNOW HAS FALLEN AGAIN.

IT TAKES ME TWO HOURS TO GET DRESSED EACH MORNING IT'S GETTING A BIT OF A PAIN.

FIRST I AM SHIVERING FROM HEAD TO TOE WHEN SHOWERED OR BATHED LIKE YOU DO.

STANDING THERE RUBBING MYSELF ALL DOWN DRIPPING COLD AND WET THROUGH.

NEXT I GO INTO THE BEDROOM AND SORT OUT A TON OF CLOTHES.

WHAT I HAVE TO WEAR TO KEEP WARM LAYERS ARE SOMETHING I LOATH.

A PAIR OF BRIEFS FOR STARTERS GALS WITH A PAIR OF LEGGINSG ON TOP.

TWO PAIRS OF SOCKS AND A VEST OR TEASHIRT NOT FORGETTING MY SPORTS BRA THATS CROPPED.

ANOTHER TOP TO GO OVER THESE THEN A JUMPER THE FINAL LAYER.

OH! NO I FORGOT MY TROUSERS AS WELL OVER THE LEGGINGS I WEAR.

I'M SAT TRYING TO PULL THE LEGGINGS ON I CAN HARDLY BREATH I TELL YOU.

TUGGING AND TOWING AND STRETCHING THEM I'M CURSING THE AIR IS BLUE.

GOOD GRIEF I HAVE ONLY HAD A BATH AND PUT ON THREE GARMENTS BY NOW.

IV'E TO BREATH IN SO I CAN FASTEN THE ZIP AND THE BUTTON ON MY TROUSERS SOMEHOW.

LETS FACE IT WITH THREE MORE LAYERS UNDERNEATH IT DOES MAKE THE WAIST SO TIGHT.

I'LL BE HAPPIER THAN ANY PIG IN S--- WHEN SPRING COMES BELIEVE ME RIGHT.

MARIE MENTIONED ONE DAY IN HER POST REMEMBER THE BABY DOLL.

FLIMSY NIGHTDRESS WE USED TO WEAR NOT NOW IT'S FLEECY FAT TROLL.

ANOTHER THREE QUARTERS OF AN HOUR HAS PASSED NOW AND AT LAST I AM FINALLY DRESSED.

LOOKING IN THE MIRROR I'M SO EMBARRASSED TO SEE THIS UGLY FAT MESS.

ALL I CAN SEE IS A MR MICHELLIN STARING RIGHT BACK AT ME.

TYRES AND BUMPS OF EVERY SHAPE I CAN HARDLY WALK BELIEVE ME.

WITH ALL THESE LAYERS OF CLOTHING WHEN IS THIS WEATHER GOING TO CHANGE.

I KEEP SAYING YES IT'S LOVELY TO LIVE HERE NOT FAR FROM THE PENNINE RANGE.

BUT NOW I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND FOLKS IT'S A NIGHTMARE AND COOOLD AS CAN BE.

IT'S ENOUGH TO FREEZE THE B----- OFF A BRASS MONKEY OR ANY CHIMPANZEE. HE--HE

TWO HOURS LATER I'M HAVING HOT SWEATS AND TIME TO TAKE OFF THE VEST.

UPSTAIRS I GO TO DO THIS I'M SICK OF DRESSING AND UNDRESSINGS IT'S A PEST.

HOW DO YOU GO EACH MORNING FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TOO.

ISN'T IT FLIPPING AWFULL AND ISN'T IT SUCH A TA - DO.

IT'S THE SAME IN THE EVENING FOR BEDTIME NOT JUST A NIGHTDRESS AS SUCH.

TO STAY WARM I'M SICK OF WEARING THE LAYERS YES I SWEAR I WEAR JUST AS MUCH.

I OFTEN GET INTO BED AND THINK GOOD GRIEF I HOPE THERES NO FIRES.

FROM MY NEIGHBOUR OR MY HOUSE AND WE HAVE TO LEAVE IN THE NIGHT WITH ALL THIS ATTIRE.

THE FIREMAN WOULD WONDER WHAT HE WAS SEEING WHEN HE SAW THIS MOTHERHEN.

AND IF I HAD TO JUMP OUT THE WINDOW I'D PROBABLY BOUNCE RIGHT BACK UP AGEN.

I'VE THAT MANY CLOTHES ON I TELL YOU PLEASE PRAY SPRING ARRIVES FOR ME SOON.

COS THE WAY THE WEATHERS LINGERING NOW I HOPE IT'S NOT HERE TILL JUNE.

THE SAYING GOES DON'T CAST A CLART UNTIL THE MONTH OF MAY GOES OUT.

THEN KNOWING BRITISH WEATHER WE'LL PROBABLY BE GRUMBLING STILL IF WE GET A DROWT.

MORE SNOW HAS FALLEN AGAIN THIS MORNING IT'S FOGGY AND DULL AT THIS TIME.

BRRRRRRRRRRR I HOPE I WILL LIVE THROUGH ALL THIS TO POST ANOTHER "SIMPLE RHYME ".

hahaha Kath, you do make me smile. It has been a horribly cold winter. I just have not been able to get warm at all, except at work. They keep the temperatures very hot up there, which is nice when it's as cold as it has been, but not so nice when the days get warmer!! Layers is the trick they say to staying warm. I remember as a child being covered and swathed in oodles of wraps and such before being allowed to go outside to play in the winter, but then again, in Canada that sometimes meant temperatures of 30 below!!!

Oh Kath you're really having a hard time my dear. I can just see you bouncing back up if you have to jump out the window. I know just think of how hot it was when you visited Texas.

Thank your for the laughs this morning. I'm not laughing at you but with you! I so relate to the layers and the extra bulk making you feel like a blimp sometimes. I remember thinking last summer that I don't know how I withstood all those layers. Our weather is the same snowing, dark and gloomy today. The weather man says we have this at least thru Friday. Before it's over we could have another 10 inches of new snow. Hearing the weather reports are something I'm beginning to dread for sure. Take good care ! Keep warm and remember you have plenty of company. Maybe we should form a club!

As Jan said, did we feel it when we were younger? I'm sure it didn't go on for so long. Yesterday was the worst here, wind chill as well. Today the warm air has arrived, together with the sun, so dare we hope that's it?

Great to hear from you Mother hen. We didn't used to feel the cold back then didwe? And we never worried about ice on the windows - INSIDE! And if we didn't get out in th snow we thought we'd done summats wrong dint we? And the fresh smell as your mam warmed your clothes on the oven door - well that was mimuvver's method of preference anyway. And the lovely rib sticking meals we'd have 'to keep the cold out'. We didn't do badly did we?

It's the way you 'tell em' Kath.
Another 'funny' from you.
Yes. layers is the answer, but not for sleeping for me.
Miserable weather here, and very cold wind today. We had snow last Sunday, but it didn't last.
