Hi Kath, it was so much nicer for children when ours were growing up. Computer games didn`t exist until my Danny was about 9 and they weren`t anything like today. I`m thankful for the days when children used their imaginations to amuse themselves. . :o)
Love and ((Hugs))

Kath, did you see the woman and her son, who were models for the xylophone picture, on the Antiques Roadshow? He looked about 40!
Loved those little books, and your nostalgic rhyme.

Such lovely memories and they did bring a SMILE or two as I remembered along with you today. I've been trying to bring back some of that fun as I've gotten to spend some precious time with some of my grand'babes'. I try to do a few like making a box for a tv set and acting out the toons and cutting out snow flakes with the little ones. But times are so few that I do spend with them. We grand'mas' have a job to do for sure. We have to keep the good times rolling so to speak. Will the times we spend be remembered??? Who knows, but we try. Take care and keep warm by the fire.

Those were the days! We did have fun as kids, out roller skating till dark, riding our Mobo scooters and taking our dolls for walks in their dolls prams. Too true that kids won't have any happy memories like we did. I used to love taking mine down the beach where we'd scour the rock pools for crabs and other shell fish. Get them out and back to nature, it's far healthier! Monday was the day I helped mum put the sheets through the mangle, remember the broken buttons on blouses where the mangle mangled them?! Lol! Stay warm! Jeannette xx
what wonderful memories we sure have....as for the children of today...well for all their computers etc. I am sure they will have their own kind of memories...just as we could never imagine computers in our childhood..I wonder what the chidren of today will be syaing to their children..it is beyond our imagination I am sure !!
Much Love Sybil xx
such lovely memories! sad our grandchildren won't experience the fun we had & their parents had growing up. all kids today know are computer games, ipods, & cell phones!!!
huggies...
How true! How true! No boring days back then.
Hi Kath! Well I suppose there must have been SOME time when we got bored but they must have been few cos I can't remember any.
We used to play shops too. Mams used to save their boxes and jars from the pantry when they were empty so we'd have something to 'sell'.
I didn't have a xylophone (I had a little piano) but our Gwyn did and never bothered with it. She left it out in the garden where it got wet and went rusty.
I think I wouldn't have been bothered if I'd had no toys at all as long as I could always get my nose stuck in a book! If you can read you are never bored.
But we did manage very nicely thank you without computer games and such.
Love, Angie, xx
Hi Kath...LOL..your rhymes sure brought back some memories...yes when my kids were small...a box..a basket...some lids...a pot or two...who needs Toys R Us??? but it is different today isn't it..video games...playstation..books get shoved onto the back of the shelf??? oh well...memories are good...God Bless You...hugs...Ora

Hi Kath ,like Bunny I saw the lady and young man on the Antiques Road show ,who were the models for the lady bird books ,and yes my children and I enjoyed them so , I have had this awful flue so havent been around much ,but getting there a bit now ..love ya mate Jan xx
NICE TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE..THANKS!
Now days not only are the children on the computers and electronic games, but sadly the parents let themselves get bunkered down to them and neglect their children's desire to have parents time.
loved the pictures !!
love ya,
carlene
I remember those days well Kath and I have gone through them again with my grandchildren too.
There are times for computers but the best times are when we play and invent with our children. Each to their own places in our lives.
I loved the olde worlde photos..they brought back memories to me too.
Magic moments.
Hugs

Lovely rhyme today as always you did bring back memories. We played with nothing just after the war there was neither materiel's or money for toys so we used our imagination. Love Joan.
Hi Kath ,we have lots of happy memories of the play days we had back then .Skipping, marbles and hopscotch,I even remember we had little books and collected car numbers .Such happy times ....love Jeanxx
Lovely entry and I really liked the pictures you opted to include. Yes, those days are long gone I fear. Everything seemed so much more innocent when I was a little one. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I miss the fun days when the girls where young.

Times have changed so much. It's a shame they don't have the freedom to roam and run and enjoy themselves like we did. I swear that babies will soon be born with a plug for one ear to plug in all their electical things.

Yes, they have all kinds of different toys now days. My grandson is on youtube or myspace. hehe He is only 14 and then girls are chasing him!! I don't think he is running very fast. hehe Life goes on and the days seem to go pretty fast for me. Can not believe that I am 65 and on medicare. The one that thinks I am really old is my youngest son. hehe He is 32 years old. My daughter is going through things that had to go through at her age. Learning that it is not always easy making the choices that we have to make at times. :( Prayers for you Kath, my friend. Hugs, Janie
I have read the comments following your wonderful rhyme, and people did enjoy the 'old days' when simple things were what occupied our time. I had fun listening to records and trying to play what I could on one of the several guitars' I owned. When I was younger I tried playing coronet, trombone, and the drums, for the school band. Passing papers on my paper route from my bicycle with my large wire baskets in the back to carry them. Playing little league baseball. So many good memories. mark
I love the pictures you chose for this entry and the reminders of the easier times in life. Take care and Thanks for sharing,
Katie
How did I miss this Kath??? I loved it and the pictures. You are such a talented lady to come up with these rhymes. I'm afraid kids these days won't have as nice memories as we have from our younger years. It's a shame, it really is!
