"TWO NOSTALGIC FINDS"

ANOTHER TALE TO TELL YOU FOLKS ONE WHICH I THINK IS GREAT.

TELL ME IN YOUR COMMENT DO YOU THINK THIS IS FATE.

MY DAUGHTER A WHILE BACK SHE RECIEVED FROM GENES RE-UNITED SOME MAIL.

ASKING HER TO GET IN TOUCH WITH A LADY WHO ONCE SET SAIL.

FOR A BETTER LIFE IN AUSTRALIA A YOUNG WOMAN THEN SHE HAD BEEN.

SAYING I THINK I'M YOUR MUMS COUSIN HELLO THERE MY NAME IS JEAN.

SO MY DAUGHTER SHE SENT AN E. MAIL TO ME AND QUICKLY SENT ME WORD.

ABOUT THIS LADY AND I GOT IN TOUCH AS FOR FIFTY YEARS HADN'T HEARD.

FROM THIS LADY CALLED JEAN YES SHE WAS MY COUSIN THE REASON FOR MY POST.

WE HAVE KEPT IN TOUCH SINCE THAT DAY ONWARDS CHATTING OLD TIMES SHE'S THE MOST.

WE CHATTED ABOUT MY OTHER COUSIN HER YOUNG BROTHER ROY SHE LOVED.

SAYING HE LIVES ON THE GOLD COAST NOW IN MABELLA OH! HEAVENS ABOVE.

A SELF MADE MILLIONAIRE HE IS WITH A YATCH MOORED THERE ON THE COAST.

HE DOESN'T FORGET HIS ROOTS THOUGH KATH AND TO YOU HE SENDS A TOAST.

LAST WEEK SHE MENTIONED ABOUT FRIDAY BATH NIGHTS AND WE LAUGHED UNTIL WE DID CRY.

IN THE OLD TIN BATH WHICH HUNG ON THE WALL OUTSIDE THE HOUSE MY OH! MY.

WELL MONDAY I STARTED TO DECORATE MY BEDROOM BUT BEFORE THAT I HAD A SORT OUT.

I WAS LOOKING THROUGH BOXES AND FOUND A PICTURE WHICH REALY MADE ME SHOUT.

ON THE BACK IT WAS WRITTEN BY MY MOTHER OUR JEAN AND ROY WHAT A FIND.

I HADN'T REALISED I HAD THIS PICTURE SO ME BEING ME I WAS KIND.

I SCANNED THE PICTURE AND SENT IT TO HER IN AN E. MAIL JUST MONDAY NIGHT.

AS I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES WHEN I SAW WHAT WAS HUNG ON THE WALL THERE RIGHT.

SAYING TO HER I THINK THIS IS FATE LOOK WHATS HUNG UP ON THE WALL .

YES THE OLD TIN BATH WE HAD SPOKE OF I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT AT ALL. HE-HE.

IN THE PICTURE SHE WAS ABOUT THIRTEEN YEARS OLD ROUND ABOUT THAT TIME.

PUSHING HER BROTHER IN THE OLD WOODEN SWING THE ONE MENTIONED IN MY RHYME.

SHE SENT ME BACK AN E.MAIL SAYING GAL I WAS OVER THE MOON.

SHE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PICTURES SO YOUNG SO THIS WAS REALY A BOON.

WASN'T THAT STRANGE MY FRIENDS DON'T YOU THINK BUT I'M HAPPY THAT SHE IS PLEASED.

SHE HAS ALSO SAID WHEN SHE SHOWS HER OWN FAMILY SHE BETS THAT SHE GETS TEASED.

ABOUT THE STORY OF BATH NIGHT IN THE OLD TIN BATH ON THE WALL.

BUT SHE ISN'T WORRIED NOT ONE IOTA BECAUSE WONDERFUL MEMORIES DO CALL.

EVERYTIME SHE WILL LOOK AT THIS PICTURE SHE'LL REMEMBER THE " HAPPY DAYS" .

THEY WILL NEVER FADE AWAY SHE TELLS ME NEVER EVER NO WAYS.

OUR FRIDAY BATH NIGHTS IN THE TIN BATH AROUND 1949.

I HOPE YOUV'E ENJOYED MY LITTLE STORY TOLD HERE IN " MY SIMPLE RHYMES".

How wonderful to find a relative like that. Something similar happened to me but the person was in this country, we just never knew we were related. Oh that tin bath, the memories it brought back of sitting in front of the range in the bath on a Friday night!

It stands the hairs up on the back of your neck, that does! I don't mean in a spooky way but that an old tin bath should turn out to be such a strong link between you, Any plans to meet?

love, Angie, xx

It's nice to come across a piece of the past and to be able to share it with one that has an equal interest is a find.

Lots of us had those Friday baths in the old days. I remember my hair was washed once a week on Sat. in the kitchen sink. Now lots wash their hair in the shower every day.

How times have changed.

Old photos are like gold dust Kath. I inherited an album - and a lost childhood - last year. People and places going back to the Thirties.
What a wonderful story you tell.

Dear Kath,
We too use to have our bath in the old tin tub!!! We little poor children of HORSESHOE BEND used our tin tub one by one...most times in the same water as our well went dry and our daddy had to haul water in milk cans.
Loved this entry...how wonderful to find your cousins after all these years!
Love ya,
carlene
