"THE NEW BIRDBATH"

I GOT UP YESTERDAY MORNING AND WOW THE SNOW HAD ALL GONE.

RIGHT MOTHERHEN GET OUT IN THAT GARDEN AND REMOVE THE DEBRI FROM.

ALL THE LITTLE TIT BITS I HAD THROWN ON THE GRASS FOR THE BIRDS.

WERE LYING ABOUT ON THE GROUND THEY LOOKED AWFULL MORE LIKE RABBIT TURDS.

SO I SET ABOUT CLEANING MY BIRDBATH IT LOOKED A REAL MESS MY FRIENDS.

SOGGY FOOD FROM ALL THE SNOW MY CHORES SEEM TO NEVER END.

I LIFTED THE BIRDBATH UP TO PLACE IT NEARER TO MY BACK DOOR.

SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO WALK BACK AND FORTH OVER THE WET GRASS NO MORE.

I PLACED IT AT THE EDGE OF THE LAWN READY TO DO WHAT I HAD.

THEN WENT INSIDE FOR MY SCRUBBING BRUSH AND WHEN I RETURNED I WAS MAD.

GRRRR...... ..THE BATH HAD FELL OVER ONTO MY FLAGSTONE PATH.

WHATS NEW YOU MIGHT KNOW SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN FOR POOR OLD LAUGHING KATH.

THE TOP OF THE BIRDBATH GOT BATTERED AND IT BROKE OFF ONE OF THE GRIPS.

WHICH HOLD THIS PART IN IT'S POSITION SO NOW IT CONTINUES TO SLIP.

THE BOWL ON THE BATH HAD TWO CRACKS IN IT I THOUGHT NOW WHAT CAN I DO.

SO I STUDIED A WHILE BUT BECAUSE OF THIS I WAS FEELING PRETTY BLUE.

I DECIDED THAT I WOULD CONTINUE TO CLEAN IT THEN I WOULD TAKE A LOOK.

TO SEE IF I COULD REPAIR IT AT ALL WHILST DOING SO THE TOP JUST SHOOK.

FINALLY WHEN I HAD SCRUBBED IT ALL DOWN ALL CLEAN I NOW PUT IT BACK.

WITH THE TOP A LITTLE BIT WOBBLY AND THE BOWL NOW HAVING TWO CRACKS.

I PINNED IT DOWN WITH THE GRIPPERS YOU GET TO STOP IT BLOWING IN THE WIND.

IT STILL LOOKED LIKE NEW FROM A DISTANCE SO I THOUGHT TOO GOOD TO BE BINNED.

I FILLED UP THE TOP WITH BISCUIT CRUMBS COCONUT AND BITS OF FRUIT.

THIS IS WHAT MY BIRDS JUST LOVE SO I ALWAYS PROVIDE WHAT SUITS.

WELL TEN MINUTES LATER I'M LOOKING OUT AND WHAT A FLIPPING LAUGH.

THE BIRDS WERE PECKING AWAY FRIENDS ME ROLLING ON FLOOR LAUGHING KATH.

THE TOP WAS JUST GOING HAYWIRE UP AND DOWN TOO AND FRO IT DID GO.

THE BIRDS THEY WERN'T DETERRED AT ALL THEY SEEMED TO ENJOY IT HO-HO.

IT WAS LIKE A CHILDRENS SEE-SAW AS IT BOBBED UP AND DOWN WHILST THEY ATE.

THEY WERE HAVING THE TIME OF THERE LIVES OH YES I THINK THEY THOUGHT THIS IS GREAT.

I LOOKED AGAIN TWO THRUSHES HAD RESTED UNDERNEATH ON THE BOTTOM PART.

AND THESE TWO THRUSHES WERE IN THERE GLORY THEY MUST HAVE BEEN SO SMART.

UNKNOWN TO ME THE BIRDBATH WAS DRIPPING FROM THE TWO CRACKS WHAT A LAUGH.

SO THEY WERE PERCHED ON THE LEDGE BELOW HAVING A SHOWER NOT A BATH HEEEEEEE!!!

ALL DAY LONG THE BIRDS WERE CALLING NOT ONE OF THEM WAS PUT OFF.

BY THE DAMAGE I'D DONE TO MY BIRDBATH ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS SCOFF.

HAVE A GO ON THERE BRAND NEW SEE-SAW HE-HE THEN TAKE A SHOWER AFTER THAT.

NO WONDER MY BIRDS ARE HAPPY AND THERE ALL EXTREMELY FAT. HEEEEEE.

OH! WELL AT LEAST I HAVN'T TO BUY ANOTHER THEY THINK THIS IS FINE.

AND IT MADE FOR A STORY TO WRITE YOU THIS MORNING IN MOTHERHENS

"MY SIMPLE RHYMES" HE-HE.

No problems here, Kath, my badgies clear up everything! I put some seed on the sundial, and could see clawmarks where they had got up on theit hind legs to get at it.

Clever you making a feeder for the birds now instead of a bath. Well it was very entertaining and I'm sure the little birdie friends think you are the greatest too! I think we are all anxious to get out and putter around. I know it's way to early to even think about it though. There will be plenty more cold and snow in February and March for us. We don't usually do much outside until April and even then it's not many days that are nice enough. It rains alot then instead of snow.
Thanks for the SMILES today!

Oh Kath, you always make me laugh...thank you. I too love the birds but don't dare feed them as there are so many cats around me and also I suspect rats..and if there is one thing that would scare me half to death it would be to see a rat...syb would be no more ! However my sister makes up for it and I am sure half the birds in wiltshire end up at her place...she has 5 seed feeders and around 10/12 fat balls and of course the "table" with other bits and pieces on it. her favourite bird is the nut hatch and she has had a lot this year..mine is the bullfinch. I adore them. My Father had a tame one once who used to come to him when he called..
Take care, Thanks as always
Love Sybil x

My garden is a bit of a mess at the moment Kath but that will all change as the weather improves. I`ll bet the birds won`t mind the cracked birdbath, in fact, they might even prefer a shower...lol! :o)

I would say your birds are happy and it doesn't take a lot to make them that way. Nice entry Kath.

Well, your birds certainly had pleasure out of your birdbath, Kath.

LOL..the birds might have been happy...but I was laughing so hard and smiling so big...hubby had to ask "why?" LOL...and I read your rhyme to him...he smiled too...but he doesn't like for me to feed the birds...says they make such a mess...I would have bird feeders and nesting places all over the place...but no...not him...oh well...but my neighbors do..and I buy a bag of feed from time to time for them...makes me feel better anyway LOLOL...God Bless...hugs...Ora....PS...I just knew you were going to say you fell over the thing and hurt yourself again...no no no no!!! thank goodness!!!!!

I am sorry that your birdbath was cracked and a handle missing. At least it still makes a feeder for the birds. I feed the birds on the ground next to the pine tree in the front yard. The squirrels enjoy the small amount I put there during the cold months, though I have many pecan and hazzlenut trees that must keep them feed all winter if they find what they stored away. I am headed out to walk Salty and then go to town. I haven't posted anything new in my blog. mark/salty
